There are four different sections of a rainforest in each layer a variety of different species of animals and plants live within them.

The Emergent Layer: The top of all of the trees where colourful macaws, mammals like the monkey and tropical butterflies live. The Emergent layer gets exposed to a large amount of sunlight and is quite windy.

The Canopy Layer: Which is below the Emergent Layer and creatures like house birds, reptiles, mammals, arachnids, possums, plants and insects live. The Canopy Layer is sometimes referred to as an ''umbrella''. It makes a thick cover using the trees.

The Understory Layer: Which is below the Canopy and is a dark and cool enviroment where it gets limited sunlight and therefore gets only a small amount of plant life. Mosses, lichens, orchids, elkhorns, staghorns and bird nest ferns grow in this layer.

The Forest Floor: Is situated below the Understory Layer which has all sorts of animal life including insects, arachnids, jaguars, pumas, gorillas, anteaters, worms and snakes such as the Anaconda and The Boa Constrictor. There is no grass here, only rotting leaves, twigs and dead flowers.
